(This
is actually the content of my speech what I spoke in the 6 different schools of Vaniambadi on WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY (05.06.2016)
Dear Children
I
wish you all a very Happy World Environment
Day. We all assembled
here to celebrate the World
Environment Day.
First
of all I
would like to thank the
School authorities to the confidence they have shown me. They have entrusted the
responsibility of addressing you.
On
June 5 th of
Every Year we are
celebrating as World Environment Day since 1972.
The whole world is celebrating this day.
On behalf of all
the countries in the world the United
Nations Organization proposed this day
as World Environment Day since 1972.
We too invite World in celebrating this day.
Bon Hi
Moon, the Secretary of the United Nations Organization has sent a Message to
all.
The People of the World should
forget all their differences and
should work for the protection of the
National Resourses and made
it available to the Next Generation.
The
United Nations Organization will fix the Theme for the World Environment Day
every year.
We
are supposed to discourage by ILLEGAL Hunting
and Trade of Wild Lives.
People
think Wild life means only animals. But it’s a common name for both.
Animals as well as Plants.
The
United Nations Organization has also developed a slogan for this World
Environment Day 2016. ‘Go Wild
To Life’ This
is actually the slogan for this
World Environment Day. In
Tamil Slogan means
“kosham” alias Punch
Dialogue. So that you can Understand
easily.
“நான் ஒரு தடவை சொன்னா நூறு தடவை சொன்ன மாதிரி” It’s a very
popular punch dialogue of Rajini.
Like
this “Go Wild
To Life” is
the Kosham for World
Environment Day 2016.
I
have Translated this Slogan in Tamil also. So that You can
understand easily.
“கொல்லாதே கொல்லாதே
வனஉயிரைக் கொல்லாதே !
செய்யாதே செய்யாதே
வன உயிர் வியாபாரம்
செய்யாதே !"
Laws to prevent Hunting and trading of Wild Lives all over the World. Legal restrictions are there all over the World. Legal prohibitions are there all over the World. There is control for Killing and
Trading of Wild Lives all over the World. Even then Wild life things are transported all over the World..
In
India as well as Tamil Nadu similar illegal activities are going on like
Smuggling of Sea Turtles
Illegal
cutting Sandal Wood
Illegal selling of sandal wood
Illegal
Hunting of Sand in Snakes
and trading of Sand in Snakes (Mannulli Pambu)
Illegal Killing of Elephants
Illegal trading of Ivories.
Illegal Cutting of Semmaram
Illegal selling of Semmaram
With
this continuous hunting and trading, certain wild species are becoming extinct. Such
wild lives are announced as endangered wild lives.
Two species
of Rinoceros.
Javan Rhinoceros and
Western Black Rhinoceros.
Also Great apes and Helmetted
Hornbills, a bird.
Penguin and certain Orchid Flowers
All are announced as Endangered species of
the World.
One
of the African country Angola is announced as the host country
by United
Nations Organization for this World Enviroment day of 2016. In African countries, particularly
Elephants are killed
in thousands for their Ivories. And
Rhinoceros are being killed for their Horns.
Let us see,
How
things are going on
in India to protect the wildlives? We
have 400 Numbers
of Wild life
Sanctuaries and 80
Numbers of National Parks.
Wild
Life Sanctuary means
a protected place.
No one can enter into that area without the permission of the Forest officials. No one can harm the Animals and Plants inside the sanctuary.
We
have six Prominent Wild Life
Sanctuaries in Tamil Nadu . Guindy
and Vedanthangal are
situated near Chennai .
Mudumalai and Anaimalai
are located in the
Western parts of Tamil Nadu
. Kalakkadu Mundanthurai and
Kodiyakkarai are in the southern
parts of Tamil Nadu.
Tigers, Elephants, Leopards, Bison,
Deer, Bears, Wild
Pigs, Snakes, Monkeys,
Squirrel, are the major wild
lives of Tamil Nadu.
Snow Leopards,
Bengal Tiger, Asian lion, Pink
Frogs, Giant Squirrels,
Giant Fruit Bats,
Great Apes, King
cobra, Asian Leopards, Pink Headed
Ducks are the major endangered wild lives of
India.
I
can say majority of tree species might be brought
under endangered wild lives of
India.
Why
these animals are Hunted and
Traded ? For money. For personal
benefits. For profit making. For time pass too.
Rats and
Water Dogs are killed for the soft Fur skins. Snakes,
Tigers, and Deers for skins.
Black Monkeys and
crocodiles for medicines.
Elephants for Ivory. Rhinoceros
for horns. Several animals are Hunted and killed for various other
purposes also.
I am
proud to say this information, India is the First country in the World, which enacted a law
to protect the Wild Lives legally,
in the Year 1887.
Dear children, I
want to ask you, what is Environment ?
In
brief, we can say, the living and
non-living things around us are Environment”
Now
I wish to tell you,
that water is one of the very scarce commodity, not only in
India, but all over the World. The problem is local as well as Universal.
With
reference to this day, My message to you is “HARVEST WATER WHEN IT RAINS AND USE”. That
will solve all the
water problems. I can say that
alone can solve all our Water Problems.
Water
is the most scarce commodity in the world . At the same time, water is
the only resource available in abundant.
But the availability of water for
our use is very
limited.
Out
of the total available water in the World ,
97 % is Sea
water. Rest of 2
% is , water in the form
of Ice . Only one persent is
available for our use. For
Agriculture. For Industrial use. For
House hold purposes. For
drinking etc.
In
India our annual
average rainfall is 1250 mm.
Out of this 85 - 90 % of
the water goes into the sea without
any use.
In
Tamil Nadu the average Rainfall is
970 mm. In Vellore the average Rainfall is around 948.7 mm.
Whereas the annual average Rainfall
of the World countries is only 840 mm.
The world’s most wettest
place is Sirapunji.
The first plasc of
sirapunji is recently taken
by Mansiram. The annual averge rain fall of
Mansiram is
11,782 mm. Both the Places are located in India
only.
Hence I can
say India is the one of the rich rainfall country in the World
Whatever the water problems exist is
manmade.
I
remember the poem in Tamil. I do not know, Who is the author? This
is one of the excellent Poem. It
depicts the density and intensity of the
problem.
“என் தாத்தா ஆற்றில் நீரை பார்த்தார்
என் தந்தை கிணற்றில் நீரை பார்த்தார்
நான் குழாயில் நீரை பார்த்தேன்
என் மகன் பாக்கட்டில் பாட்டிலில் நீரை பார்த்தான்
என் பேரக்குழந்தைகள் எப்படி நீரை பார்ப்பார்கள் ?"
“My grandpa seen water in river
My Father saw water in wells
I have seen water coming in pipes
My kids have seen water
Selling in Pockets and bottles
My grand children
Could they see water what it is ?”
